In order to satisfy the requirements of our customers, Padgett Swann has integrated a reverse engineering branch to its service portfolio. Through the reverse engineering process, complex mechanical designs could be inspected or improved rapidly and accurately. We are able to collect accurate high-resolution 3D scan data of as-built mechanical components for its subsequent comparison versus the as-designed components. This non-contact technique allows us to check compliance with design tolerances, concentricity, out-of-roundness, corrosion and mechanical damage. We currently use FARO arm, laser tracker, and laser scanner equipment in addition to PolyWorks and SolidWorks in our reverse engineering process. This technique allows parts to be made faster, more accurately, and less costly.
Rotational applications require the highest degree of straightness. This is in order to minimize vibration throughout the length of the shafting.
The Padgett Swann Pump Shaft Quality bar is more than 8 times straighter than industry standards with straightness readings of 0.0015” T.I.R/FT max, capable of straightening 8” Diameter shafts with lengths up to 30’.
Pump Reliability is a critical factor in our decision making at Padgett Swann. Excessive vibration caused by imbalance can cause unscheduled down time and increased repair cost. It is critical that we balance in house to the highest degree of ISO Standards.
Every repaired or newly casted and machined impeller is balanced to 4W/N (ISO balance quality grade 0.7 equivalent) unless the customer specifically requires a lower specification or standard.
Padgett Swann offers in-house capabilities to dynamically balance rotating equipment to help minimize vibration problems which are often at the heart of operational pump failures.
Padgett Swann utilizes the latest HOFMANN HORIZONTAL HARD BEARING, DYNAMIC,
BELT DRIVE PRECISION BALANCING MACHINE, MODEL PCH-24.1
Able to balance up to 12,000 pounds
Swing Diamter-155”
Capabilities:
Two plane dynamic balancing
Static / Couple balancing capability
Single plane static balancing capability
Over time pump performance will deteriorate due to wear, corrosion, erosion, cavitation and chemical attack. Modern Surface epoxy and polyurethane coating technologies can be applied to extend a pumps lifecycle and increase efficiency. Weather it is rebuilding of worn surfaces and then machining or applying ceramic energy efficient coatings.
Padgett Swann offers its clients a wide variety of coating options including Belzona™, MCOR™, Enecon™, Chesterton™, Etc.
Our Fabrication Department is located in a 20,000 sq ft fully enclosed facility. All of our Fabrication and Welding is done in house and is accurately handled by an expert team of seasoned fitters and welders that produce fabricated products with the highest quality workmanship on time.
We currently hold welding qualifications under ABS, Lloyds, Navsea, and ASME.
Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Aluminum Weldments are all produced in our facility. Padgett Swann specializes in large fabrication structures, fabricated foundations, system installations, pump columns, discharge heads, pipe lines and marine underwater components.
We specialize in Fabrication of Close Tolerance Weldments that require machined surfaces. All fabrication is accurately checked using precision measuring instruments and by the use of a FARO Laser Tracker to insure the highest level of accuracy.
Our efforts to provide complete customer satisfaction go beyond the repair activities. We provide a complete suite of predictive maintenance solutions to support data-driven decisions and reduce the total lifetime cost of your equipment (prevent downtimes). We tailor make predictive maintenance plans according to our customers’ needs. If necessary, we can wirelessly record real-time performance data of your equipment 24/7. Our services include vibration data collection and analysis, balancing, shaft alignment, thermography, and ultrasound.
By introducing predictive maintenance solutions to your processes, you can reduce unplanned downtime and increase your process efficiency.

In addition, we are equipped with a portable, containerized full-service machine shop capable of being at your facility to ensure fast and efficient on-site repairs anywhere in the world. Each portable machine shop is filled with a horizontal lathe, vertical mill, welding banks and the latest Climax portable machines and auto-welding systems, as well as many other powerful precision tools to tackle any project.
We include a product line of the following machines:
Flange Facing
We offer flange facing capabilities range from 6″ to 199″ with ID mount and OD mount options available.
Line Boring
Padgett Swann’s line boring capabilities range from less than 2″ up to 65″ in diameter and larger if need be. We can provide a practical solution for your line boring project.
Milling
Padgett Swann utilizes LM 6200’s. A heavy-duty portable mill that can be constructed for linear or gantry milling in nearly any position. It utilizes a modular bed sections, to allow the length to be expanded from 48 to 192 inches without losing rigidity. It has a proven track record and has handled some of the harshest environments, for machining sole plates, large fabrication foundation structures and other critical components requiring a flatness, perpendicular or parallel requirement.
All field machining is used in conjunction with precision measuring instruments and by the use of a FARO Laser Tracker to insure the highest level of accuracy.
